I really like riding the subway. It is my number one favorite thing about living in New York, and I'll probably get tired of it eventually, but until then I love it every day. Except for when I'm late for work and my connecting train is just pulling away across the platform as I'm pulling up to the station. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT. At that moment it is a culmination of all the helpless impotent rage I've ever felt in my whole life concentrated at one time.
The morning commute is also a great time to SLOWLY and CAREFULLY put on lip gloss.
Anyway, here is my new challenge. One subway stranger per day. Every day until I get beat up for creepin' on someone I shouldn't. Doable?

echo
I eat my lunch at Madison Square Park, which is just a few blocks from my work. It's great. There's a dog park there that I like to stare at and talk in dog voices under my breath. There's also a giant white sculpture of a head right in the middle of the park.
I was sitting on a bench and this lady walked by who was staring at the sculpture. She suddenly stops in her tracks and says to a lady a couple benches down from me:
"Hey! Excuse me! What movie is that from?"
The lady on the bench is confused and says something probably like: "Huh?"
And the first lady goes: "That big giant head! It's from a movie! What movie is it from?"
"Huh?"
"Shoot, what's that movie. It's got those guys flying around. Those blue guys."
"... Avatar?"
"Yes! Avatar! That's what it's from! That's the movie! Thank you."
"What is happening."
"Thank you so much!"
This is the head, it's by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa.
Also I've actually never seen Avatar, so if there's a big giant head in that movie that makes this not funny, let me know.
